What are the wonders today? In the world full of despair and agony, when everything was twisted back and forth, the clue of finding the wonders became blurry. Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, which tend to be something frightening and anxious. However, there is not only the darkness, which make us trembling. There is a darkness of secrets, darkness of lovers and darkness which protects unseen. The wonders are just small candles, but we know, that all new wonders could start in the dark.
Story by Daniil K.
This story shot in Milan consists of a series of photographs that attempt to translate the concept of couture within a dimension of daily life. The characters are represented in the main stages of the path that follows the Linea Novanta: between interstitial spaces and transit territories, the subjects appear as elements encapsulated in an imaginary and surreal dimension.
„Singula“ editorial concept is based on this brain process and it will show two perspective from di erent photographers; one showing the first appearing (close to the subject), showing the first sight, the starting point of a visual itinerary; the second will complete the discovery and show a large part of the scene and the subject in front of it. It is a discovery process through the eyes of two photographers: the path will start from the blink and the view of the detail until the fully unveiling of each subject and model.
Whilst brainstorming the concept of this shoot, photographer Danny Valentine was inspired by a track sang by Quickly, Quickly called “If You Only Knew”.
The concept was shot in a homely, colourful traditional French style apartment in the center of Bordeaux, as the team was aiming to create a nostalgic look.
Stylist Johanne Leazarn and Danny Valentine wanted the model to portray the presence of loneliness and passive sadness contrasting with the warm aesthetic of the apartment.
Fluidity e dualism. Portraying humans layering clothes all in one with their personality. Adding and removing as a metaphor for our life choices. Put on that jacket to feel stronger. Take off those pants to feel free. Shaping your personality one garment at a time.
