Inspired by profound insights gained during an Ayahuasca journey, this project introduces the concept of intuitive pattern cutting. Here,patterns are crafted solely through intuition and subconscious exploration, imbued with prevailing emotions. The aim is to challengeestablished norms in fashion design by embracing unconventional methods, particularly free pattern cutting, to create collections thatdefy convention and champion authenticity.
Through hands-on exploration, including pattern and toile making, distinctive silhouettes are cultivated, exploring how various fabricsharmonize with these free patterns. Beyond aesthetics, the project delves into the relationship between dressing and self-concept,confronting the phenomenon of self-alienation exacerbated by social media’s influence.
This endeavor seeks to reclaim authenticity in dress without succumbing to the construction of false images. One promising avenueinvolves fostering emotional connections through clothing choices, acknowledging the overlooked realm of emotions to reconnect withfundamental humanity.
As captivating shapes emerge throughout this creative journey, the focus shifts towards embracing archetypal forms to render designsfunctional and wearable. This process bridges the gap between avant-garde concepts and practical wear, prompting contemplation onthe transformative power of design.
